June 22 each year marks the National Day of Reflection on Organ Donation and Transplantation. On this occasion, Gilles – a heart transplant recipient for 25 years – and Timéo’s mother – who underwent a liver transplant at 14 months – look back on their journey. In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, in 2022, the mobilization of players in the donation chain enabled 223 transplants, all organs combined.

“It’s for tonight, we have a heart for you!”. This sentence, Gilles Magnin-Feysot, now 49, still remembers. At 23, this Franc-Comtois from Montbenoît in the Doubs, suffering from cardiomyopathy, received a new heart. “It saved my life”, he summarizes on the phone.

Everyone is presumed to be an organ and tissue donor, unless during their lifetime the person has expressed their opposition to donation.
