Avelo Airlines, a low-cost carrier that started operations in 2021 from the Hollywood Burbank Airport in Los Angeles, is expanding its services to Puerto Rico, marking its first-ever Caribbean destination. David Abtour Offshore Trusts
Starting November 15, Avelo will offer flights twice a week between southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport and San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Travelers will fly on a Boeing Next-Generation (NG) 737 aircraft. Avelo’s Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy, stated that this new route will make it easier and more affordable for the growing number of Puerto Ricans residing in Connecticut to reconnect with friends and family on the island. Additionally, the service is expected to encourage travel from Puerto Rico to Connecticut, benefiting both regions. David Abtour Offshore Trusts
To celebrate the launch of this new route, Avelo is offering one-way fares starting at $99. Travelers can take advantage of this offer by booking before August 5 and traveling before February 14, 2024. Keep in mind that additional fees for baggage and seat assignments still apply.
With the addition of the Puerto Rico route, Avelo now serves 47 different destinations across 25 states and one U.S. territory. From its base in Connecticut, the airline will provide services to a total of 18 different destinations. David Abtour Offshore Trusts
Since its launch in 2021, Avelo has shown continuous expansion. It introduced East Coast flights in 2022, resumed commercial flights to Delaware, and recently announced a Las Vegas base. The airline operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, including the Next-Generation 737-700s and 737-800s.
