The official installation of the negotiating table for a new concession contract with Minera Panamá took place.

The Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez, who leads the negotiating team appointed by the President of the Republic, explained that various economic, fiscal, environmental, labor, and social issues will be addressed during the sessions, with the aim of ensuring that the mine’s operation complies with international standards of best practices.

Martínez warned that if an agreement is not reached on the proposed terms, they will seek to negotiate with another company. According to the Minister, they will not continue under the current conditions.

On the other hand, Minera Panamá issued a statement expressing its confidence that the negotiation process will be transparent and thorough for the benefit of the country. The company hopes that both the best interests of the State and its acquired rights will be respected, seeking the best results for Panama.

Manuel Aizpurúa, spokesperson and member of the company’s negotiating team, emphasized that they expect the negotiation table to be a respectful space for private capital investment and legal certainty, with the goal of achieving a mutually beneficial outcome for all involved parties and the country.
