In the La Pintada district of Coclé, more than 15 families have carried out the first partial harvest of tilapia through the Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal.
This project, in collaboration with the Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP) and the Cobre Panama company, aims at tilapia production for both personal consumption and commercialization.
In this initial partial harvest, approximately 300 pounds of tilapia were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds.
In addition to providing a source of quality protein for these families, the tilapia harvest also offers them an opportunity to generate economic income.
These families have a grinding machine that allows them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers, thereby adding value to their products. COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM
