What Will You Remember About Our Class?

As I asked my English class in May, during the last month of their senior year, I was curious to know what they would remember about our class. My students sat quietly, thinking about the question. After a few moments, one student raised her hand and said, “I’ll remember how you always encouraged us to think outside the box.”

This response was followed by a chorus of agreement from the other students. They all seemed to remember the same thing: my encouragement to think creatively and to explore new ideas.

It was a pleasure to teach this class. They were a diverse group of students, from different backgrounds and with different interests. But they all had one thing in common: a desire to learn and to grow.

I had the privilege of teaching this class for two years, and in that time, I saw them grow and develop as individuals. They learned to think critically and to express their thoughts and opinions in a respectful manner. They also developed a greater appreciation for literature and the arts.

The students were also eager to participate in class discussions and debates. They were not afraid to challenge each other’s ideas and to offer their own perspectives. This was a great opportunity for them to practice their communication skills and to learn to respect different points of view.

In addition to the academic lessons, I also tried to instill in my students a sense of responsibility and respect for others. We discussed topics such as integrity, respect, and kindness. I wanted them to understand that these values are essential for success in life.

I also encouraged my students to take risks and to pursue their passions. I wanted them to understand that life is a journey and that it’s important to take risks and to try new things.

Finally, I wanted my students to understand the importance of giving back to their community. We discussed ways in which they could use their talents and skills to help others. I wanted them to understand that they have the power to make a difference in the world.

As I reflect on my time with this class, I am filled with pride and admiration. I am proud of the progress they have made and the skills they have acquired. I am also proud of the values they have embraced and the positive impact they have had on their community.

My students have inspired me and reminded me of the importance of teaching and learning. I will always remember this class and the lessons we shared together.
