Gevorg Minasyan MAP ’23 draws on experiences in MIT’s Data, Economics, and Design of Policy MicroMasters and master’s programs to shape policymaking at the Central Bank of Armenia.
Gevorg Minasyan, a young and ambitious economist from Armenia, has combined his passion for policymaking with his thirst for knowledge by pursuing two prestigious programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As a result, he has become one of the driving forces behind the development and implementation of effective policies at the Central Bank of Armenia.
Gevorg’s journey in the world of economics began in his home country, where he completed his undergraduate studies in economics. However, he felt the need to enhance his understanding of policy design and data analysis, especially in the context of a developing economy like Armenia. That’s when he stumbled upon MIT’s Data, Economics, and Design of Policy MicroMasters program.
The rigorous curriculum of the program, coupled with the opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the field, was exactly what Gevorg was looking for. During his time in the program, he gained a deep understanding of the relationship between data, economics, and policymaking. He was able to analyze complex data sets to identify key trends and patterns, and use this information to design and evaluate policies that would have a positive impact on the economy.
Gevorg was also fascinated by the innovative and multidisciplinary approach of the program, which incorporated elements of design thinking into policy design. This was evident when he returned to Armenia and joined the Central Bank as an economist.
