It’s been a long time since the Backstreet Boys graced the stage in Brazil, but the wait is finally over. Nick Carter and Howie Dorough, two of the beloved members of the iconic boy band, are back in Brazil and ready to rock the stage at The Town Festival in São Paulo.
In an exclusive interview with Billboard Brazil, Nick and Howie sat down to chat about their return to Brazil, their upcoming performance at The Town Festival, and what the future holds for the Backstreet Boys.
Brazil has always held a special place in the hearts of the Backstreet Boys and their fans. The group first visited the country in 1999 and have since returned multiple times, creating unforgettable memories for both themselves and their Brazilian fans. “We have a special connection with Brazil. The fans here are amazing and always show us so much love and support,” says Nick.
For Howie, returning to Brazil means revisiting some of his favorite memories from past tours. “I remember performing at Rock in Rio back in 2001 and it was one of the craziest crowds we’ve ever had. The energy and love from the fans here is something we will never forget,” he says.
The Town Festival, which has become one of the biggest music festivals in Brazil, will see the Backstreet Boys headlining the event on the first night. The festival, known for bringing together a diverse lineup of artists, will see the boys perform alongside Brazilian acts like Anitta and Iza. “We’re really excited to be headlining The Town Festival. It’s an honor to be a part of such a big event and we can’t wait to share the stage with some amazing Brazilian artists,” says Nick.
When asked about what fans can expect from their performance, Howie hints at a mix of old and new. “We always try to give our fans a little bit of everything. We’ll definitely be performing some of our classic hits, but we also want to surprise them with a few new songs from our latest album,” he says.
Speaking of new music, the Backstreet Boys recently released their tenth studio album, DNA, which has been a huge success worldwide. “We’re blown away by the response to DNA. We put a lot of heart and soul into this album and it’s amazing to see our fans connecting with it,” says Nick.
With over two decades in the music industry, the Backstreet Boys have managed to stay relevant and continue to gain new fans with each passing year. When asked about the secret to their long-lasting success, Howie credits their strong bond as a group. “We truly are like brothers. We’ve been through so much together and our friendship is what keeps us going. Plus, our fans have been with us every step of the way and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support,” he says.
As for what the future holds for the Backstreet Boys, Nick and Howie are excited to continue making music and performing for their fans. “We definitely have more music in the works and we’re always looking for new ways to connect with our fans. We’re just grateful to still be doing what we love after all these years,” says Nick.
