In a recent edition of Arnold’s Pump Club, Arnold Schwarzenegger highlighted some interesting questions from The Pump app members. One member asked the bodybuilding icon if he had pets growing up in Austria. The 76-year-old has adopted many animals over the years and said that he and everyone in his family had pets.

The seven-time Mr. Olympia said that he had cats running around his home in Austria. Arnold Schwarzenegger, his elder brother Meinhard, his mother Aurelia, and his father Gustav had one cat each as their pet. While answering the fan’s question, Schwarzenegger recounted a “hilarious” childhood incident involving him, his mother, and her pet cat, Mookie.

While all four cats lived with the family, each cat was especially loyal to the family member they belonged to. “My mom’s cat was hilarious,” recalled the former governor of California. The 76-year-old explained that he once got into a fight with his mother. “I was very young and I was too rough with my mom,” said the former Mr. Universe.

However, Mookie jumped into action to help out Aurelia Schwaraengger. “Mookie violently attacked me,” revealed the 76-year-old fitness icon. While the Schwarzenegger family had four cats, Arnold Schwarzenegger grew up petting and interacting with other animals in the small village of Thal, Austria. The Hollywood action star said that he also remembers his neighbor’s cow.

The actor explained that his love for farm animals comes from that cow. Schwarzenegger wrote that he milked his neighbor’s cow every day. The former politician also revealed his fantasy of having a cheetah as a pet. While people in America have exotic pets, Schwarzenegger said that he “would never do that.” Yet, Arnie got a taste of having exotic animals at his house.

All for a good cause

The 76-year-old often posts videos of his farm animals. Lulu the donkey, Whiskey the mini poney, his four dogs Cherry, Noodle, Dutch, and Schnitzel, and the newest member, Schnelly, the pig, are internet icons in their own right. However, the bodybuilding champion has hosted an elephant and even a tiger on his property for a noble cause.

Schwarzenegger revealed that he knows of a non-profit organization that cares for retired “movie anmals.” Arnie brings these animals for his After School All Stars charity. It was during these events that Arnie had the elephant and then a tiger at his house. The elephant got scared and cracked one of the home’s pillars. The tiger swam in the bodybuilding legend’s pool and even let the former Mr. Olympia feed it eggs. Arnold Schwarzenegger grew up with animals. Hence, it’s no surprise that he loves them and has adopted so many over the decades.
