PinkPantheress, the rising star in the music industry, has been making waves with her unique sound and captivating lyrics. And now, she has even more reason to celebrate as she has received not one, but two Grammy nominations for her debut album, Fancy Some More? Her recent remix video for “Stateside” featuring Zara Larsson has also been making headlines, and she has some exciting collaborations on the album, including physical therapy with Anitta and being a day-one fan of Seventeen. I had the pleasure of sitting down with PinkPantheress at The Luckman Club at Soho House West Hollywood to discuss her journey so far.
Katie Bain: Congratulations on your two Grammy nominations! How does it feel to be recognized by the music industry in such a big way?
PinkPantheress: Thank you so much! It’s honestly a dream come true. I never imagined that my music would be recognized on such a prestigious platform. It’s a huge honor and I’m just grateful for the support and love from my fans and the industry.
KB: Your remix video for “Stateside” featuring Zara Larsson has been a huge hit. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the video?
PP: The original version of “Stateside” is a very personal song for me, and I wanted to create a visual that would capture the emotions and vulnerability of the lyrics. When Zara came on board for the remix, I was thrilled. She brought a whole new energy to the song and we wanted the video to reflect that. We wanted to show the contrast between the dark and light sides of the song, and I think we achieved that with the video.
KB: Your album, Fancy Some More?, has some amazing collaborations. Can you tell us about working with Anitta and Seventeen?
PP: Working with Anitta was a dream come true. She’s such a talented artist and I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time. We actually met through physical therapy. We were both recovering from injuries and bonded over our love for music. It was a natural collaboration and I’m so happy with how “Fancy Some More?” turned out. As for Seventeen, I’ve been a fan of theirs since their debut and it was an honor to work with them. They brought so much energy and passion to the song and I think it really elevated the track.
KB: Your music has been described as a mix of different genres. How would you describe your sound?
PP: I would say my sound is a fusion of different genres. I grew up listening to a variety of music, from R&B to pop to rock, and I think that has influenced my sound. I don’t like to limit myself to one genre, I like to experiment and push boundaries. I think that’s what makes my music unique.
KB: You’ve gained a huge following on social media, especially on TikTok. How do you use social media to connect with your fans?
PP: Social media has been a huge part of my journey. It’s allowed me to connect with my fans on a more personal level and share my music with a wider audience. I love interacting with my fans and seeing their reactions to my music. It’s a great way to stay connected and show my appreciation for their support.
KB: What can we expect from you in the future?
PP: I’m constantly working on new music and I’m excited to share it with my fans. I also hope to go on tour and perform for my fans in person. But for now, I’m just taking it one day at a time and enjoying the journey.
